  • Durable Artificial Turf for Residential Use

Backyards are often high-traffic areas, especially for families with children or pets. Natural grass can quickly wear out, leaving patchy, muddy areas that detract from your outdoor space. Durable artificial turf for residential use is engineered to withstand heavy foot traffic, rough play, and harsh weather conditions. Key features include:

    • High Durability: Made from advanced materials like polyethylene and nylon, modern artificial grass can last 15-20 years with proper care.
    • Weather Resistance: Whether it’s scorching summer heat, heavy rain, or freezing winters, artificial turf remains intact and functional year-round.
    • UV Protection: High-quality turf is UV-stabilized to prevent fading, ensuring your backyard stays vibrant for years.

For example, a family in a sunny region installed durable artificial turf for residential use and reported no fading or wear after five years of heavy use by children and pets, saving them $5,000 in maintenance costs compared to natural grass.

  • Low-Maintenance Synthetic Grass for Homes

One of the biggest pain points for homeowners is the time and cost associated with maintaining a natural lawn. Low-maintenance synthetic grass for homes eliminates these concerns by requiring minimal upkeep. With artificial grass, you can say goodbye to:

    • Watering: Artificial turf doesn’t need water to stay green, saving thousands of gallons annually. For example, a typical 1,000-square-foot lawn can save up to 20,000 gallons of water per year.
    • Mowing and Trimming: No more weekly mowing or edging, freeing up your weekends.
    • Fertilizing and Weed Control: Synthetic grass stays weed-free and doesn’t require chemical treatments, reducing both costs and environmental impact.

This makes low-maintenance synthetic grass for homes perfect for busy families, retirees, or anyone looking to reduce their landscaping workload while maintaining a pristine lawn.

  • Would this be suitable for a driveway?

Artificial grass is generally not suitable for driveways that support heavy vehicles due to the potential for damage from the weight and movement of cars. While artificial grass is durable and designed for foot traffic, it isn’t built to withstand the pressure from vehicles regularly driving or parking on it. Over time, the weight of the cars could flatten or damage the fibres, and the base underneath may become compromised.

However, if you still want a green aesthetic for your driveway, you could consider incorporating artificial grass between pavers or in smaller sections that don’t directly bear the vehicle’s weight.

    Final Thoughts

Installing artificial grass on concrete is a fantastic way to revitalise your outdoor space without the hassle of maintaining natural grass. With proper preparation, the right tools, and careful attention to detail, even DIY beginners can achieve professional-looking results.

  • Maintenance Tips for Artificial Grass on Concrete

Once your artificial grass is installed, you’ll want to keep it looking its best. Here are a few maintenance tips:

    • Regular Brushing: Brush the grass periodically to keep the fibres standing upright and remove any debris.
    • Rinse with Water: Occasionally rinse the grass with water to remove dirt or dust, especially after a dry spell.
    • Remove Stains Promptly: If any spills occur, clean them immediately with mild detergent and water.
  • Brush the Grass and Add Sand (Optional)

To give your artificial grass a natural look and improve its durability, you may want to brush the fibres and add kiln-dried sand.

    1. Brush the Fibres: Use a broom to brush the fibres against the grain. This helps them stand up and look more realistic.
    2. Spread Sand: If you choose to add sand, spread a thin layer of kiln-dried sand evenly across the surface. Brush it in with a broom to ensure it settles between the fibres.

    Common Mistakes to Avoid

For beginners, some common mistakes can happen during the installation process. Here’s how to avoid them:

    1. Skipping Surface Preparation: Failing to clean and level the concrete surface can lead to an uneven installation, with bumps and dips visible through the grass.
    2. Not Using Shockpad Underlay: Without an underlay, the artificial grass can feel hard underfoot and may not drain properly.
    3. Misaligned Seams: Be sure to align the fibres of adjoining pieces to avoid visible seams, which can ruin the overall look.
    4. Insufficient Adhesive: Using too little adhesive, especially around the edges, can cause the grass to lift or shift over time.
  • Benefits of Installing Artificial Grass on Concrete

Before diving into the installation process, let’s first look at why you might want to install artificial grass on concrete in the first place. Here are some advantages:

    1. Improved Aesthetic: Concrete surfaces can often feel dull and harsh, especially in outdoor spaces. Artificial grass adds a fresh, vibrant look, instantly transforming the area into a more inviting space.
    2. Comfortable Surface: Unlike hard concrete, artificial grass is soft underfoot, providing a more comfortable surface for walking, playing, or lounging.
    3. Low Maintenance: Once installed, artificial grass requires minimal upkeep. You won’t need to water, mow, or fertilise it, making it an ideal option for those looking for a hassle-free solution.
    4. Durability: High-quality artificial grass is designed to withstand foot traffic, pets, and the elements. When properly installed, it can last for years, even on top of concrete.
    5. Drainage: Modern artificial grass has excellent drainage capabilities. When installed correctly with a suitable underlay, it prevents water pooling, making it a functional solution even in rainy climates.
  • Is Tauro Turf pet friendly?

All our grasses here at Tauro Turf are pet friendly and we find that dogs love to run and play on our grass. To keep your synthetic turf smelling fresh, it can be hosed down when used by pets for toileting. You might find that water alone is adequate over the cooler, wetter months to wash away pet urine.

To eliminate any pet odour that persists during summer months we recommend a product that we stock called Turfresh. Turfresh helps break down the urine crystals that form and cause odour, while being non-toxic, biodegradable and suitable for both children and animals. We recommend using Turfresh once a fortnight during the warmer months. The quantity and frequency of use will depend on the size of your area and number of dogs. The bottle of Turfresh attaches to any garden hose for easy spray application. Along with using this product, frequent watering, particularly at the time the urine is deposited will further eliminate any odours and leave your lawn smelling clean and fresh.

  • Is Artificial Grass Safe To Put Around My Pool?

For many people, a backyard with a pool where they can relax, let kids and pets play, and host guests is part and parcel with the American dream. Pool owners will quickly learn that these features require specific maintenance to be safe and beautiful and can impact landscaping decisions. For example, is real grass or artificial turf the better option around a pool?

Artificial Grass and Your Pool Safety

Some people may be unaware of one of the perks of artificial grass. It dries quickly, meaning water that is splashed, tracked, or dripped onto your lawn will evaporate quickly. This benefit isn’t just about convenience. If your pool is currently surrounded by natural grass, then you may have noticed how slippery it becomes when wet, so artificial turf can make the pool area safer for kids and pets.

An artificial lawn won’t require as much maintenance as a natural one, either. Of course, you don’t need to fertilize, water, weed, or mow fake grass.  All you need to do is sweep away any debris and rinse it off with a hose about once per month. Plus, a yard covered in artificial turf is more hygienic and won’t attract pests such as bugs or rodents or become muddy like the real thing. This decreases the chance of your lawn harboring bacteria that could make you and your family sick.

  • Which is Better for the Environment?

When it comes to choosing between artificial turf and natural grass for your landscaping needs, the decision often boils down to one critical aspect: environmental impact. At Synthetic Grass Masters, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, we understand the importance of making eco-friendly choices. Here, we’ll explore the environmental benefits and drawbacks of both options to help you make an informed decision that aligns with your values and lifestyle.

    Environmental Impact of Natural Grass

Natural grass has long been the traditional choice for lawns and sports fields. It offers a natural ecosystem that supports various forms of wildlife, from insects to birds, and plays a significant role in the carbon cycle by absorbing carbon dioxide. However, natural grass also requires considerable resources to maintain its lush appearance:

    • Water Usage: Natural grass is water-intensive. In arid regions like Arizona, maintaining a green lawn throughout the year can lead to significant water consumption, which is a crucial consideration in drought-prone areas.
    • Chemical Use: To keep natural lawns looking their best, it often requires fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. These chemicals can leach into the soil and potentially contaminate local water supplies.
    • Energy Consumption: Mowing a natural grass lawn frequently uses gasoline-powered equipment, contributing to air pollution and noise.
